First, here is the Gearing moored in Rio on March 14, 1947 alongside the light cruiser Fresno with destroyers Gyatt and Greene outboard.

Note the depth charge racks on Gearing and her sister ships.
Does anyone know when they were removed? Email the page author. Fresno had 6 twin 5 inch 38's as main battery. She was launched in 1946, decommissioned into reserve in 1949, scrapped in 1966.
